One of the loveliest brocante (flea market) fairs in Normandy takes place every May, in the Orne.
In 2018 the Foire des Andaines takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May.
The fair stretches along a forest road between Saint-Michel-des-Andaines and Bagnoles de l’Orne. Here you will find more than 2000 sellers (organisers say); some antiques, lots of brocante, a few regular market stalls, plants, local produce and plenty of places to rummage.

The road is closed to traffic for the weekend. We tend to park in Andaines – either on nearby roads or the car park set up in a field for the event – then have lunch in Bagnoles before the walk back.
Very useful info – barbecue food and drinks are available just before you reach Bagnoles, and there are proper loos next to the road at the Bagnoles racetrack.
Serious (or sensible) types take a trolley. It may be just over 3km each way, but that can be a bit of a struggle carrying a corner cupboard and half the Bayeux tapestry, as we discovered.
