On this day, 30 May in 1431 Jeanne d’Arc was burned at the stake in Rouen.
We are honouring her memory with these three vintage postcards, found in the Foire Des Andaines, Normandy on a very hot day last year.
No. 4 – Joan and her soldiers reach Orléans on 29 April 1429
No. 5 – Joan is wounded in the battle for Orléans 6 May 1429
No. 8 – The capture of Joan of Arc 24 May 1430.
If only we could find the rest of them…

- Read more about Joan and how her mother protected her memory here ‘A mother’s love, faith and Joan d’Arc, in Rouen‘.
- In the area? Visit the new museum for Joan in Rouen ‘Historial Jeanne d’Arc‘.
- Don’t be put off by the spooky dark roof of L’église Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc in the old market of Rouen. It may look like an old witches hat on the outside but inside this church is a symphony of light and colour. Wonderful.
Will you won’t you?
You may have noticed we did not match any of these postcards. If any of our lovely readers would like to do so, we will be delighted to feature your pictures here!
