‘Groupe de 6 baigneuses dansant en ligne sur une plage a Deauville‘ say the notes with this charming old photograph, ‘Group of 6 bathers dancing in a line on Deauville beach’.
Five of these young ladies have sleek swimming costumes and their hair is controlled with neat little turbans. The sixth dancer is going her own way. Her swimsuit is a bit crumpled and not particularly flattering. Her hair is unrestrained and defiantly bouncing in all directions. But nobody cares a jot. Because the sun is shining in Deauville and they are young, lovely and on the beach. It’s summertime.
May your summer be as joyful and beautifully composed. Happy first day of summer Normandy lovers!
